And over at Mike's personal blog, he laments that the city of Chicago is such a permissive city that it allows homosexual encounters to occur in public places where decent people retreat to pursue decent interests such as bird watching.
Now I ask, what kind of a moral ingrate is it that either engages in or defends the practice of sexual interludes in public and in broad daylight? Moreover, what kind of a society is it that permits that kind of behavior in a public place, in broad daylight?
Such activities simply have no place in a civilized society. Which makes me question at times how civilized our society really is.

I almost couldn't believe it when I read it. The answer to the question, "is it that bad already?" is an emphatic yes.

Having spent the last week in San Francisco and Los Angeles, I can assure you that in these places there are no limits on behavior.
It isn't that most individuals in either city behave obnoxiously in public; people still draw lines for themselves, in general. But they refuse to draw lines for anyone else. The God of Tolerance rules. The only rule is that there are no rules.
Something's got to give.
Rick, thanks for stopping by. I think you're absolutely right on both points - that the god of tolerance rules, and that something has to give at some point.
The closest I ever got to L.A. is the Ontario airport about three years ago. That was close enough for me. I've been to San Francisco once about 15 or 16 years ago and I kid you not, the most vivid memory I have of that city is not the Golden Gate bridge or other landmarks, but a volkswagon bug (mid '70s model) painted in phychedelic colors and color schemes, fully equipped with an odd floral arrangement on the roof of the car, as well as a world globe as a hood ornament. The world globe as a hood ornament served to thoroughly convince me that law enforcement had lost all control in that city. It had to obstruct the driver's vision.
The driver of the car, well, let's just say that he had a "far away" look in his eye.
Mike, I'm very happy that you read it rather than having run into it on a stroll through the park with your family for instance. I've actually been in those situations where homosexuals were showing "affection" for one-another in a public setting (the OKC Zoo), and yes, with my children present. I promise you, it was all I could do to restrain myself, and to quietly whisk off the kids.

Thank God for small favors, right? I'm quite glad, actually, that I haven't had to shield their eyes from something. Yet, I guess, for I expect that'll happen eventually.
I was in SF maybe 4-5 years ago and there were an inordinate number of degenerates laying on the streets and benches - and I wasn't exactly in the worst part of town. Might be time to bring back enforcement of vagrancy laws, among other things.
